Metamucil Vs. Citracel

Metamucil and Citrucel are two commercial products used to treat the symptoms of constipation. Both of these products belong to a class of substances called bulk-forming laxatives, which achieve their effects by absorbing water in your intestines and increasing the mass, or bulk, of your stools. The active ingredient in Metamucil is psyllium, while Citrucel contains a substance called methylcellulose.
